A tune I wrote a long time ago and never got around to finishing the lyrics, which in turn meant I never finished a complete mix. Found it while rummaging through my old stuff the other day. Maybe I’ll revisit and get a better mix together. Still don’t know what to do with all the music I used to put together.

Presented with the microaudio plugin for wordpress. Automatically makes links for mp3s into a flash player. The plugin works as advertised. No hiccups with its functionality. The only issue I encountered upon using it, was the notification via the wordpress GUI, that I am limited to 2MB for uploads. Major bummer. Although I can upload files through ftp and link them inside posts the automation of uploading, delivering and posting files through a simplified inclusive system is a little shot this way. Hence the crappy low resolution of the mp3.

In the spirit of my personal methodology, wherein I abscond with some other plodder’s handiwork in order to enact it’s thrifty benefits for my own devious purposes, I present this test post using the Lightbox 2 plugin for WordPress. By all my reading and research, this version is open source/CC and free for use with a little credit. To kick things off, here’s some older stuffs from my early photoshop cutting and cropping days in order to test the new lightbox plugin for image links in a WordPress post.

Character Concept Art
The Lightbox appears to be successful, so far.

Not sure about the wordpress image formatting in post, however… These images were originally part of a group displayed inline horizontally. My unfamiliarity with WordPress’ image options and this new Lightbox 2 plugin will require me to dig a little deeper into both to figure them out.
I do like the speed of this particular version of this effect. It also comes prepped for black, dark grey, grey and white shaded boxes to frame the images although I can’t discern any difference between the grey or dark grey. Perhaps I’ll be able to customize the image border and possibly even the shadow color down the line. I’ll leave it up for a few days and see what else might break it.
My gratitude to the crafters, modders and creators who devised this witty bit of code for use in the varied WordPress sites of the internet at large.

I do have a little something new. A couple of months ago I worked on a refresh for the Uniting Clergy and Police website or U-CAP for short. It used to look like this: http://www.jkenlive.com/asset/ucap_main_02.jpg, and now it looks like this: http://www.unitingclergyandpolice.com/.
I was really pleased with the result after it was all said and done as this was my first time working with WordPress. There will still need to be some additional tweaks added here and there, for increased functionality but the template turned out well. The client has been satisfied as well since it’s a lot easier to add updates for events and features.

Until I can get content moved over or generate some new material, I will be leaving my old site archived at it’s original url.

I may even decide to import the old blog archives over to this template but I’m still thinking about that right now.

Have finally gotten around to uploading a newer custom template for my new WordPress blog. Looking forward to filling it up soon with a whole lot of crafty goodness. Now, it’s time for sleep. Sleep good, yes.

So that means that my infinite wisdom to resort to a more custom approach via WordPress on the upcoming JKenMedia site was actually fortuitous. Of course this also changes my plans for keeping this blog active as a generic “life” blog. It will have to be reworked as well.
I’ll leave this up for the time being, but it will go away in the next month or so… With the only remaining option being to host blogs on a custom Blogspot domain, I will not be interested in continuing with this service. I actually just found out (realized the ramifications) about this and as I continue typing this note, I’m finding myself growing a little sad at the news. I’ve enjoyed this service within the limited fashion I’ve used it and can see the possibilities for others who have taken advantage of the full set of features it offers. This was also my first internet venture and my first experience with a blogging tool. It’s a little sad to see it going away in the capacity it once was. Of course if I only cared to have a blog sans other pages on my site, I suppose I could continue merrily with the custom domain hosted service they are opting for (never mind custom installations). But I don’t think that will suffice for me and I will move on to more robust offerings via WordPress.
I’m surprised how a little sad about this…
